About Us

Our business is business writing.

We help companies improve employee performance in a single realm — writing. Among business skills, writing is notoriously difficult, yet certain industries — e.g., pharmaceutical companies, health plans — find themselves forever tethered to it.

We help our clients achieve a variety of business objectives, including:

  • lower costs — reducing the time and effort required to 1) create documents, 2) edit them, and 3) review and approve them;
  • greater effectiveness with everyday communications — improving email and other routine documents;
  • reduced litigation risk — reducing the company's legal or regulatory exposure due to poorly conceived or poorly written documents (especially email).

Our current focus is health-related businesses.

Since the mid-'90s we have increasingly worked with U.S. pharma companies and health plans:

  • Pharma companies. Since 1999 we have created programs to promote and reinforce good writing practices, particularly with a view toward reducing litigation risk. Our three-part Good Documents Series was specifically designed for this industry, and in recent years, customized versions of this program have become required training at three of the largest U.S. pharma companies. We have also worked on a variety of related initiatives to reduce the risks associated with particular media, e.g., digital voicemail, salesforce call notes, and so on.
  • Health plans. Over the last ten years we have created a variety of writing programs specifically for health plans. These programs have addressed specific writing challenges, including effective email, effective customer correspondence, and writing to large audiences of members, providers, or brokers (letters, web pages, brochures, etc.). We have also designed corporate writing standards and then coordinated various initiatives to help individual departments achieve the new standards.

Our program designs are of unsurpassed quality and impact.
